Lieberman Wins: Still a Liberal

The Republicans have given up on the North East. The party fears it so palpably that they support center-left candidates who disagree with nearly every plank of the Republican message.

This is going to be a problem for the party in 2008 with laws eroding the power of the electoral college pending in many liberal states with large populations (of illegal immigrants and welfare recipients).

Missouri: Talent Wins

Looks like the Michael J. Fox hit-piece isn't going to give Missouri to the Democrats.

H50.NET is now calling Missouri for Jim Talent.

[Update]: Looks like I was wrong. You could have made a killing on InTrade last night, but I think that's mainly because it was too lightly traded.

Missouri Tight While It's Game Over for "Linc"

Well, that's it for Lincoln Chaffee. He was nothing but obstructionist and weak during his tenure as a liberal Republican from Rhode Island. I hope Bush and Co. are happy they knocked out his conservative challenger who could have at least delivered the Republican message in loss.

But in Missouri, it's very tight. This has become the true battleground race in the nation with the national attention afforded it by Michael J. Fox, Rush Limbaugh, Al Gore and others.

And the offer price for Republican control over the House is up to 8% with significant support on the bid side. It still doesn't look good, but there is some speculative action on the buy side.

Couple of Updates

Looks like Michael Steele has lost in Maryland. Democrats: champions of the African American community.

The Democrats are looking more and more like the Wonder Bread party.

InTrade Update

Well, I'm seeing a lot of red so far, and I don't mean in political terms. The competitive GOP contracts are sliding pretty quickly with two exceptions: Tennessee and Virginia.

It looks as thought the Republicans will take those two seats, and if that happens, the Democrats will probably be unable to gain a Senate majority.

Those House has slid to about 6%, though it has been below 5%.

Gay Marriage

I love issues like gay marriage and abortion:
  • They don't really affect me at all
  • The majority of Americans are either ambivalent or at least tolerant
  • Democrats refuse to compromise on them, so they use the courts to enact their positions
  • Americans react by rebelling against the Democrats
It's like clockwork. I hope we can think up a few more of these issues.

Democrat Moderates

Talk about bait and switch. Many of the seats the Democrats will win tonight, especially in the House, are being won by moderate to conservative candidates who will empower the likes of Charles Rangel to set the tax policy of the Congress.

The thing that bothers me about this is that I know Americans reject liberalism, generally speaking, but they're empowering it with their own bitterness. Cut off your nose to spite your face anyone?

CNN vs Fox

These networks should just admit their partisanship. CNN has a panel of socialists on board tonight, and Fox has a panel of normal people (Republicans) on board.

Given that, I like the Fox format better. The CNN format is a little over the top. It looks like a talk show, not a newsroom. Their panel have their own phones!

InTrade

It seems there is an incredible interest in www.intrade.com. Their site is painfully slow tonight, but the numbers are fascinating. Here's a snapshot:

Kerry: Get educated or 'get stuck in Iraq' OR MARRY A RICH WOMAN!
